The short version
- We collect only what Panequill needs to work: your account, your organization, your screens and the content you publish.
- No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no analytics tools and no third-party SDKs.
- We never sell or share your personal information.
- Your slides, playlists, layouts, schedules and media library sync through your own private iCloud.
- Payments are handled by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: More → Delete Account….
1. Who we are
Panequill is made by Paper Giants Publishing, LLC (“Paper Giants,” “we,” “us”), an Ohio limited liability company. This policy covers:
- Panequill, the app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that you use to make and publish signage (the “Panequill app”);
- Panequill Player, the free app for Apple TV that shows your signage (the “Player”);
- the Panequill service that connects them (the “Service”); and
- this website, panequill.com.
When an organization such as a business, school or church uses Panequill, that organization decides what content appears on its screens and who on its team can use them.
2. What we collect
In the Panequill app (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
- Account identifiers. Sign in with Apple is the only way to sign in. We create a Panequill account ID linked to the identifier Apple provides. If you choose to share it, we also receive your name. We do not ask Apple for your email address.
- Organization and team information. Your organization’s name, its screens and screen groups, the team members you invite and their roles (Owner, Editor or Viewer). Team invitation codes work once and expire after 7 days.
- Content you publish. The slides, images, videos, PDFs, captions, playlists, layouts, schedules and emergency alert messages you publish to your screens. Widget settings you enter are included, such as a city name for weather, or a feed, calendar or spreadsheet link.
- Purchase information. When an organization’s owner subscribes, we receive the signed App Store transaction so we can confirm the plan with Apple. We keep the transaction ID, product and expiry date.
- Push notification token. A device token, used to tell owners and editors when one of their screens goes offline.
In Panequill Player (Apple TV)
The Apple TV has no personal account. Once connected, it reports to the organization that connected it.
- Screen identifiers. A screen ID and a device token issued when the screen is connected.
- Screen status. A check-in about once a minute with the app version and what’s playing, so your team can see that the screen is online.
- Screen pictures. A low-resolution picture of what the screen is showing, taken about every 5 minutes, so your team can see the screen from the app. We keep only the most recent picture.
- Proof-of-play records. Which item played, on which screen and zone, when and for how long. These power the Business plan’s reports.
The Player reads free disk space only to manage its local cache. That number never leaves the Apple TV. Content made with Quick Sign or shown by Try a sample stays on that Apple TV and is not sent to us.
Technical information
Like any internet service, our servers receive the IP address of devices that connect to them. We use it briefly to deliver the Service and to rate-limit abuse, such as repeated attempts to guess a screen code. We do not use it to locate or profile you.
On this website
panequill.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. Your browser may remember your light or dark appearance choice in its own local storage, and that setting never reaches us. Our hosting provider processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site securely. If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
3. What we don’t collect
- Your precise or approximate device location. The Weather widget uses a place you type, not your location.
- Contacts, health, financial or browsing information.
- Payment card or bank details. Apple processes all payments.
- Advertising identifiers. We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- Analytics or crash data from the Panequill app.
4. How we use information
We use information only to provide and protect Panequill:
- to sign you in and keep your account and organization secure;
- to connect screens, deliver what you publish, and keep screens playing;
- to show screen status and pictures, send offline notifications, and deliver emergency alerts;
- to produce proof-of-play reports for Business organizations;
- to confirm subscriptions with Apple and apply the right plan;
- to answer support requests; and
- to prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t sell it or use it to build profiles.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers, who process information only on our behalf or as part of the platform features you use:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; iCloud (your private CloudKit database for your authoring library); App Store payments and subscriptions; push notifications; WeatherKit for the Weather widget. Apple’s handling is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the Panequill service (databases and file storage for accounts, organizations, screens, published content and reports), this website, and email forwarding for [email protected]. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. |
Content sources you choose. Some widgets show data from links you enter, such as an RSS or Atom feed, an ICS calendar, a published Google Sheets CSV or a menu CSV. Your devices fetch that data directly from those websites. As with any web request, those websites receive the device’s IP address and handle it under their own privacy policies.
7. How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Account, organization, team and screen records | Until you delete your account or the organization, or disconnect the screen |
| Published content and media | While it’s published to your screens. Removed when the organization is deleted. |
| Proof-of-play records | 90 days |
| Screen check-ins | 7 days |
| Screen pictures | Only the latest picture; each new one replaces the last |
| Subscription transaction details | While the subscription is active, and afterwards as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal obligations |
| Support emails | As long as needed to resolve your request |
| Authoring library (slides, playlists, layouts, schedules, media) | In your own iCloud and on your devices, under your control |
When a screen is disconnected, the Apple TV deletes the content and media it had downloaded.
8. Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from the Panequill app: More → Delete Account…. This:
- deletes your Panequill account;
- deletes every organization that only you belong to, along with its screens, published content, media and reports;
- disconnects those organizations’ screens, which then delete their downloaded content; and
- revokes Panequill’s Sign in with Apple access.
Organizations with other members continue for them. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel it in your Apple account settings first (see our Refunds & Cancellations page). Your authoring library lives in your private iCloud, and you can remove it by deleting Panequill’s data in your iCloud settings.
You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your information by emailing [email protected]. We may need to confirm you own the account before acting.
9. Security
Information travels between your devices and our service over encrypted HTTPS connections. Apple TVs connect out to the service and don’t accept incoming connections. Access to each organization’s data depends on team roles, and new media is checked before a screen plays it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you as the law requires if a breach affects it.
10. Children
Panequill is a tool for organizations and is not directed to children. Accounts are for adults acting for themselves or for an organization. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). Schools and other organizations are responsible for the content they publish, including any information about students, and for having the permissions they need to show it. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have about you and get a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive it in a portable format; and
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email [email protected]. You may also use an authorized agent. We respond within the time the law allows, usually 30 to 45 days. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our response. You may also contact your local data protection authority.
California residents: in the past 12 months we have collected identifiers, commercial information (subscription records), and user content and screen activity, for the purposes described in section 4. We have not sold or shared personal information, and we don’t use sensitive personal information.
12. International users
Paper Giants is based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we process your information because it’s needed to provide the Service you asked for (contract), for our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and working, and to meet legal obligations. Cross-border transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as our providers’ standard contractual clauses.
13. Changes to this policy
We’ll post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also let you know in the app or by other reasonable means before it takes effect.
